Blair Decker

Blair is a Senior Advisor at Ventus. He supports the team with investment sourcing and naval shipbuilding market insight, having managed General Dynamics Electric Boat's supplier base and supply chain for over 40 years 

Blair joined submarine shipbuilder General Dynamics Electric Boat in 1979 as an associate buyer, progressing through the ranks to become Vice President and Chief Supply Officer, part of Electric Boat's executive team. 

In this role, Blair led Electric Boat's supply chain and procurement, material conveyance, and strategic sourcing across a supply chain of over 3,500 companies. Blair additionally chaired General Dynamics' Supply Chain Management Council and played a pivotal role in Electric Boat's strategic offloading initiatives to manage rising Columbia and Virginia submarine build rates. 

During his career, Blair managed over $20bn of material spend and completed over 1,000 supplier site visits.

Blair retired from Electric Boat in 2021 after 41 years. 

He holds a BA in Economics from Fairfield University, and an MSc in Engineering Management from the University of New Haven.
